Not sure which thread to post, but I'll put it here.

I just got off the phone with Landlord. He's Korean. About 70 I would guess.
Here for 40 years. His wife is Oncologist, 3 sons, One at Stanford Doctor/professor, One lawyer in Hong Kong, 3rd in finance. Just a bit of background.

He's no dummy. Besides asking for guarantee about rental for business, we had a good talk. I asked him about China vs Japan. Boy did he rant.

He told me most Japanese are Koreans. He said no, they won't go to war. Last resort, he spoke about the islands but I have hard time understanding him when he gets riled up.
He ranted about US government corruption and neocons. He said Romney has not one live brain cell in his head.

He also told me he won't read the papers any more. Told me how disgusted he is with the money motives. My head is spinning.
I made appointment to meet with him Sunday with my friend/backer.

It was great.

RE: Anti-Japanese Demonstrations in China
The Japan Coast Guard and a Chinese monitoring ship exchanged words near the Senkaku Islands on Sept. 18, as tensions increased over reports that hundreds of Chinese fishing vessels were nearing the disputed isles.

A Japan Coast Guard patrol boat spotted the Yuzheng 35001 just outside Japanese territorial waters in the East China Sea about 43 kilometers north-northwest of Uotsurishima, the largest of the five uninhabited islands, around 6:50 a.m., coast guard officials said.

The patrol boat warned the Yuzheng 35001 not to enter Japanese territorial waters. But the Chinese ship said the islands, which Chinese call Diaoyu, are an integral part of China and that it was conducting a legitimate duty, coast guard officials said.

RE: Anti-Japanese Demonstrations in China
And the rhetoric on both sides has remained uncompromising.

In Tokyo on Wednesday, former Japanese Defense Minister Shigeru Ishiba said losing a piece of Japan would mean "losing the whole country."

In China, the official newspaper of China's armed forces, the People's Liberation Army Daily, ran an editorial calling it fantasy to think anyone could "plot to occupy one grain of China's sand, or half an inch of its territory."

"Justice is on China's side, people's hearts are on China's side," it said. "The Chinese government will justly and determinedly take measures to respond in kind and resolutely uphold sovereignty over China's territory."

The islands - called the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China - are tiny rock outcroppings that have been a sore point between China and Japan for decades. Japan has claimed the islands since 1895. The U.S. took jurisdiction after World War II and turned them over to Japan in 1972.

Japan considers its bid to purchase some of the islands as a way to thwart a potentially more inflammatory move by the governor of Tokyo, who had wanted not only to buy the islands but develop them. But Beijing sees Japan's purchase as an affront to its claims and its past calls for negotiations.

Beijing has sent patrol ships inside Japanese-claimed waters around the islands, and some state media have urged Chinese to show their patriotism by boycotting Japanese goods and canceling travel to Japan.

The islands are important mainly because of their location near key sea lanes. They are surrounded in the East China Sea by rich fishing grounds and as-yet untapped underwater natural resources.

Chinese state media have also reported that boats were headed to the waters around the disputed islands for seasonal fishing.

This war is not about rocks, or Japan.

And it will not have been the Chinese people that will have started it, though they have been brainwashed to want war at this time.

That came from above and has nothing to do with Japan and everything to do with World War III.

That is how close we are.
