I don't think much about George W. Bush, but he was right on with one thing: Africa. He gave more aid to Africa and tried to cozy up to African nations and for very smart reasons - bucketloads of resources. Africa is the last of the frontier - in that they have loose and somewhat unstable governments and that aid given can buy political and economic influence. China recognizes this -and Libya knew that both countries were doing what they could to seize the influence of Africa. I spoke to a cabbie from Sierra Leone and he called Gaddafi "the king of Africa" because of all the people who could unite African nations, he could...and that was another reason for the regime change. Water is a huge commodity in Africa and he had a boatload of it. Africans respected him...so he was a threat to both American and Chinese economic interests. Diamonds, gold, silver, and other mines are located in Africa...
Russia might fight Canada with regard to North pole resources - there seems to be a boatload of oil there and these two countries will be going at it.
South America has a ton of resources too and I think Brazil is, like Lydia said in another thread - quietly dominating their continent.
The US is guilty with this secrecy also. For decades we knew about the Natural Gas and Bakken lode in North Dakota and Montana - who knows what else we have lying underneath our Rockies...and don't forget one of the most valuable assets the United States has over most if not all other countries is that not only can the US feed itself - we can feed others and many countries are dependent upon the grain output that the US provides to the rest of the world. The US has production facilities and distribution networks that could process food to be sent all over the world and food is one heavy trade.
Thank you for your input. I agree on all points. The problem is the exports you mention will probably create food shortages and unaffordable prices in the US.
The major food corporations have no allegiance to the American consumer...or to America.
I spoke to my neighbor yesterday (he is a 70-yr. old farmer) and he informed me that it is very difficult to locate seeds for veggies that will produce seeds for a second crop the following year. TPTB are entering the final stages of food control as millions of Americans are waking up to the fact that they will probably have to grow their own food at some point in the near future. This is why I moved to a farm in Arkansas.
Home gardens are a big threat to the major food corporations and folks like Monsanto. By genetic alteration, they are trying to impose control of your neighborhood tomato patch. Stock up on seeds now!
Be advised that in 2014 the DOC will activate their new requirements for over-the-road truckers, requiring "black boxes" which are similar to aircraft flight data recorders. Trucks and truckers will be restricted to "X" number of hours per day of driving time, thus increasing the cost of shipping veggies and food products across the US. Add increasing fuel costs, a weakening Dollar and you have a formula for economic genocide.
Note: The truckers will not wait until 2014 to install these black boxes.
The cost of small, used garden tractors is going up. New ones are out of the question. Walk-behind tillers cannot break up ground that is tightly compacted from years of sitting idle. Better get ready, friends.
